A meme is a postulated unit of cultural ideas, symbols or practices, which can be transmitted from one mind to another through speech, gestures, rituals or other imitable phenomena. Supporters of the concept regard memes as cultural analogues to genes, in that they self-replicate and respond to selective pressures. During this session, we will identify our shared social memes and assess how they impact our day-to-day existence. From this activity, participants will develop a piece that will address through monologue, song or movement the social meme they believe most impacts their identity.
